How to Enable sACN (e1.31) Output in Madrix 5
The Streaming ACN (sACN) protocol, also known as E1.31, is a powerful way to control large-scale LED installations using ethernet-based communication.
Enabling sACN in Madrix 5 allows you to output DMX data across numerous universes with ease. Here is a simple, step-by-step guide to configuring and activating sACN in Madrix 5.
Step 1: Access the Network Options
To start, you need to navigate to the network settings in Madrix:
Go to Preferences in the top menu and select Options [00:10].
Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + O.
Step 2: Enable sACN and Select the Network Adapter
In the Options window:
Click on the Devices Network tab.
Check the box for ESTA Streaming ACN [00:26].
Select the correct network adapter from the list. This should be the one that is connected to your lighting controllers [00:35].
Step 3: Set the Device Count (Universes)
The Device Count in Madrix refers to the number of universes you want to control [00:42]:
Enter the total number of universes you need for your project.
Click Apply and then OK.
Step 4: Activate sACN Universes in Device Manager
Now that the protocol is enabled, you need to turn the outputs on:
Open the Device Manager by selecting Preferences > Device Manager or by pressing F4 [00:51].
In the Device Manager, you will see all your ACN universes listed.
Select all universes (press Ctrl + A).
Hold Shift and double-click the state of one universe to toggle all selected universes to "On" [00:58].
Step 5: Save and Output
Once all your ACN universes are active, click OK [01:07]. Madrix is now configured and outputting sACN data to your network.
If your lighting controllers are not receiving data, double-check that your computer's network adapter is set to an IP address that matches the subnet of your controllers.
