How to Adjust Voltage on an LM2596 DC-DC Buck Converter
The LM2596 is a popular and efficient buck converter, which means it can take a higher DC voltage and "buck" it down to a lower DC voltage.
These modules are widely used in DIY electronics to provide stable, adjustable power for components that require lower voltage than your main power source. Here is a simple, step-by-step guide to adjusting the output voltage of your LM2596 module.
Step 1: Connect Your Power Source
Before making any adjustments, ensure your input power is correctly connected:
Connect your higher DC voltage source (up to 40V depending on your module) to the IN+ and IN- terminals [00:06].
Connect a multimeter to the OUT+ and OUT- terminals to monitor the output voltage in real-time.
Step 2: Locate the Potentiometer
On the top of the module, you will see a small blue component with a tiny brass screw. This is a multi-turn potentiometer (or "pot") that controls the output voltage [00:12].
Step 3: Adjust the Voltage
To change the output voltage to your desired level:
Using a small flat-head screwdriver, insert it into the slot on the brass screw.
Turn the screw anti-clockwise to lower the output voltage [00:19]. You should see the voltage on your multimeter begin to decrease immediately.
Continue turning until you reach your required voltage.
Step 4: Secure the Setting
Once you have achieved your target voltage:
