When our client reached out, they needed a lighting specialist who could quickly deliver a complete, well-executed system. The project, at Lloyds Banking Group’s newly refurbished offices at 33 Old Broad Street in London, originally required LED tape installation and control in the entrance corridor. But over time, it expanded to include the Spanish Steps, the reception desk, and a final detail in the boardroom.
When we were brought in, the project was already in motion, but the original supplier hadn’t delivered a viable solution. The system design fell short in multiple areas, incorrect cable runs, mismatched driver specs, and poor component selection. Our job was to review it fast, propose a better alternative, and begin work immediately to avoid delays. What we delivered was a streamlined, high-performance LED setup that reduced failure points, improved optical quality, and allowed easier maintenance.
Each phase came with tight timelines and complex coordination, and our team was brought in to solve it quickly, cleanly, and with full control integration from day one.
Corridor Installation
We started with the corridor, the longest and most time-sensitive zone. In August 2024, we completed the first fix using a black rebated slat profile with diffuser, integrated directly into the ceiling and walls. This profile gave us the clean, uninterrupted look the client wanted, with space to run thinner cables for extended distances.
We returned in December to carry out the second fix, starting with the installation of the RGBW COB LED strips along the corridor profiles.
We then fitted our custom control and distribution enclosure, with Meanwell NDR Power Supplies and 128 Channels of DMX Decoders, which were programmed to handle DMX control across the system. With everything connected and tested, we completed commissioning to ensure seamless control and reliable performance throughout.
The revised setup allowed us to reduce driver count, simplify cabling, and improve reliability, all without changing the architectural detail.
Spanish Steps
After completion of the corridor, we were asked if we could take on the Spanish Steps. This area required soft, even light across a wide surface, with full integration into the building’s DALI control system.
We supplied and installed:
- Aluminium profile with diffuser
- Micro COB LED strip
We configured the system for smooth dimming and reliable control, tying it into the existing DALI infrastructure. The result is a consistent wash that enhances the feature while keeping technical maintenance minimal
Reception Desk Feature
Next we moved on to the Reception Desk, the curved desk need a flexible, low-profile solution. We went with a 3000k Flexible Neon, mounted in a bendable discreet profile.
This setup provided a clean, architectural glow that matched the rest of the building, while the flexible profile allowed precise shaping around the curves
Boardroom Finishing Touches
Finally, we delivered a refined feature for the boardroom. We installed RGBW LED tape at 3000K within aluminium profile to frame the wall-mounted television on both sides, creating a soft, even glow that enhances the visual focus without overwhelming the space. The system runs on a DALI driver, enabling precise control of both brightness and colour through the existing DALI network. This detail added a polished finish to the room while maintaining a clean and functional look
From First Fix to Final Finish
Despite the short notice, we delivered a complete control system at Lloyds, 33 Old Broad Street, spread across four different zones. This project is a clear example of how we deliver end-to-end LED systems with tight integration, reliable hardware, and zero drama.
By refining the hardware, cabling, and layout, we brought greater reliability and performance to every part of the install.
