Coldplay’s Buenos Aires Tour
Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour was a global stadium show inspired by the band’s imagined solar system. The tour combined large-scale visuals with a commitment to low-emissions touring. With over 100 performances worldwide, it featured moments designed to connect audiences with sound, movement and light.
One key sequence involved large, illuminated inflatable planets floating above the crowd. These helium-filled spheres created a dramatic visual moment in the final scene of each show.
Technical Breakdown – Built for Touring
Our first LED system was deployed during Coldplay’s ten-night residency at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2022.
Each balloon was inflated and tethered to a dancer. The dancers then filtered out into the audience at the end of each night becoming part of the stadium-wide light show. Inside, we installed a lightweight, battery-powered LED tube, bright enough to hold its own in a stadium. The LEDs were robust enough for nightly use and synchronised wirelessly with the music, using DMX signal.
Everything was designed to handle the demands of touring, heat, movement, and the need for quick setup and teardown. Our engineer remained on site for three weeks, assisting with installation and the de-rig.
